Exciting Collaboration Announced by Cincy Reigns, Bucketheads, and Dontay Corleone

An Offer You Can't Refuse: The Godfather Burger, a Corleone and Bucketheads Creation

CINCINNATI, Ohio (July 6, 2023)

Cincy Reigns unveiled on Wednesday a unique partnership between Cincinnati Bearcats’ football star defensive tackle Dontay Corleone, and the popular local bar and restaurant, Bucketheads.

The collaboration introduces the “Godfather Burger.” Inspired by Corleone, a Cincinnati native who collected Associated Press Third Team All-American honors in 2022, the perfectly grilled burger features generous BBQ beef brisket, rich American cheese, and a crispy onion ring, and will be added to Bucketheads distinguished menu beginning July 2.

The Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) partnership begins just in time for Cincinnati Burger Week, set for July 10 to July 16, where participating Cincinnati restaurants will showcase their gourmet burgers for a discounted price for only $7, instead of their normal price.

A $2 donation from each “Godfather Burger” sale will be made to Dontay to commemorate Corleone’s new “No. 2” jersey number he will debut this fall.

“I am honored to be a part of this venture with Bucketheads and Cincy Reigns,” Corleone said. “The ‘Godfather” Burger symbolizes the spirit of our city and supports a worthy cause. And it’s delicious. What more can you want?”

Corleone had 45 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss as a redshirt freshman in 2022. He starred at Colerain High School before coming to UC in 2021.

“This venture strengthens links among local businesses, our sports stars and the Cincinnati community, which is the heart of our mission. We hope everyone tries the ‘Godfather Burger’ and supports Dontay,” said Brian Fox, board chair at Cincy Reigns.

Added Tom Scott, former UC student-athlete, and owner of Bucketheads:

“Bucketheads is proud to partner with Dontay Corleone. He’s a local sports star who stayed home and embodies the spirit of our restaurant with his tenacity and work ethic. We’re excited to support the Cincinnati community and UC student-athletes, and hope everyone gives the ‘Godfather Burger’ a try. We promise you will love it!”

Following the official unveiling of the Cincy Light Lager – a collaborative brew between Cincy Reigns and Rhinegeist, this partnership with Bucketheads presents an opportunity for fans in Cincinnati as one of the first to offer this refreshing beer. Now, Bearcats fans will have the pleasure of pairing an ice cold Cincy Light with the delectable Godfather burger

It works closely with UC’s compliance, licensing, legal and sports marketing professionals to protect UC student-athletes and ensure compliance with all NCAA and UC name, image and likeness (“NIL”) policies and guidelines.

Cincy Reigns wants UC’s student athletes to thrive on and off the field, during their time as students, and well after graduation. Accordingly, Cincy Reigns will offer character and life education opportunities for student-athletes, so they learn how to successfully compete at more than just the sport they love.

The Collective strives to create NIL opportunities for over 500 student-athletes across 18 varsity teams and collaborate with organizations like Rhinegeist to advance its mission.
